What is the difference between The Foundation and The Chamber?
The Foundation of the Chamber of Digital Commerce is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization and an affiliate of the Chamber of Digital Commerce. The Foundation is by law not allowed to engage in lobbying activities and was specifically formed to help accommodate the funding for research and education around digital asset and blockchain technologies. The Foundation is approved to collect charitable contributions. Such donations may be deducted, as set forth in the Internal Revenue Code, as a charitable contribution from the donor’s federal income tax.
The Chamber of Digital Commerce is a 501(c)(6) nonprofit membership organization. The Chamber is organized to promote the acceptance and use of digital assets and blockchain technologies. The Chamber does this through working closely with industry and the policy community to improve the business conditions of the blockchain industry. The Chamber is approved and registered to engage in lobbying activities. Contributions to the Chamber may not be deducted from the donor’s federal income tax return as charitable contributions but may be deductible, in large measure, as a business expense.
